MedicExpress Devlog 1

This is my first ever dev log so expect things to be hastily written and done as I navigate how best to compile my thoughts. But most importantly I want to say THNAK YOU to whoever is taking the time to read and see this. I appreciate it :). Anyways, welcome, welcome, welcome to the Medic Express. This game may be a Snake clone, what better way to learn game dev than following in the footsteps of arcade classics. In this entry I wanted to focus on getting started with my colors and sprites I'm using.

To start off this project is being made for Palette Jam 2 [8 Bits to Infinity] so naturally there is a rule and limitation for the jam. The rule in question is one of limited color palette. There are 16 wonderful colors to choose from but only 8 can be used in a submission so narrowing down to a color scheme I like and makes sense was a challenge the first day. I tried some variations starting with the OG sprites which were done in white/red or solid black and dark blue. Unfortunately those colors weren't allowed to be used but fret not the ones available I think match quite well with the game. The green of the ambulance and green for the pick ups I hope makes it clear those are GOOD things that you want to ran over, er I mean pick up with your car. While the blue people well they should be avoided at all costs unless they turn, well, green. I went back and forth between quite a few different color options for my designs. I liked the dark purple since it loos kind of similar to the red ambulance but it didn't capture that "good vibes" or felt like it clearly indicated those objects are okay to grab. SO a nice bright green is where I landed on.

That's all for this dev log. I gotta see how it formatted, where the images land, and that fun stuff. I hope to stick with the jam all the way up to the deadline on 11/22/21. Good luck to everyone participating and until next time!
